This wood fired sushi tray and soy sauce bowl (1x5x8) was selected by McKenzie Smith, juror for Tabletop an international juried exhibit of functional art forms. This 2016 exhibit was held at the Art League Gallery, Alexandria, VA. It is high fired (2,400F), and like all of my work is dishwasher and microwave safe.
Sushi Tray (2016 Tabletop)
All pots are high fired (2,400F) stoneware or porcelain. They are wood fired in a wood burning kiln for over 24 hours. As the flame crosses the pots, iron is drawn to the surface so the flames 'draw' permanent flashing marks on the pot, and the ash melts to form a glaze. All work is food safe, and dishwasher and microwave safe.
