Face jugs originated in the south during the 1800s. It is thought that they originally were made by African American potters as grave markers to scare away bad spirits. They became popular as whisky jugs in the mid-1800s with the idea the 'ugly' face would keep children from sampling the contents. These jumbo earthenware planters may scare away any bugs from eating your plants. Be sure and specifiy whether you would like traditional (with teeth) or rude (with the tongue). The jumbo planters are approximately 8.5" high and 10" wide. Pictured are representative pots. They are ONLY AVAILABLE LOCALLY via curbside pickup or delivery to Northern Virginia (email me for the logistics)NO SHIPPING
