This wood fired stoneware yunomi, or teabowl (3x3x3) was selected by Jerry Randell, juror, for inclusion in the 2nd Annual Cup Show at Studio 550, Manchester, NH. This cup was fired in the second chamber where salt is added. The effects of the salt and wood enhance this amber glaze. It is high fired (2,400F), and like all of my work is dishwasher and microwave safe. This teabowl works well for wine, whisky, and juice.
Amber Yunomi (2014 2nd Annual Cup Show, Studio 550)
All pots are high fired (2,400F) stoneware or porcelain. They are wood fired in a wood burning kiln for over 24 hours. As the flame crosses the pots, iron is drawn to the surface so the flames 'draw' permanent flashing marks on the pot, and the ash melts to form a glaze. All work is food safe, and dishwasher and microwave safe.
